Delhi:
Jama Masjid – the largest mosque in India, Rashtrapati Bhavan – the official residence of the President of India, the famous Chandni Chowk market with the best street food, New Delhi has enough and more to keep you busy. The Qutb Minar is a must see. The National Gallery of Modern Art is a place that you should visit if you are interested in contemporary Indian art. Humayun’s Tomb is an impressive example of Mughal architectural style, combining dome, mausoleum and plinth in perfect proportion.

Mumbai:
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus is the city’s most extravagant Gothic building, a legacy of colonial India. Another monument worth visiting is the St Thomas Cathderal – the oldest English building standing in Mumbai. Head to Mangaldas Market for silk and cloth, Zaveri Bazaar for jewellery and the Chor Bazaar for antiques and furniture. The Gateway of India and the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower are two must-see attractions. For a unique experience, head to Chowpatty Beach and join the people from the Laughter Yoga Club or sign up for the Dharavi Slum Tour.
Goa:
Begin the day exploring Se Cathedral, the largest church in Old Goa and in Asia. Explore the Cotiago Wildlife Sanctuary to scout for birds and beasts alike – but remember not to feed the macaques. Go on a tour with John’s Boat Tours in Candolim to explore the nature’s treasures. Indulge in extreme sea sports such as parasailing and jet skiing on the beaches of Baga, Benaulim and Colva. The adventurous can try paragliding at Anjuna and Arambol where there are also ample opportunities for kite surfing. Bengaluru:
Well-known for its exotic flora and fauna, the Lal Bagh Botanic Gardens is a must-visit. Do enjoy a lazy Sunday morning at Cubbon Park. The Bull Temple located in Basavanagudi is a typical Dravidian-style temple and is famous for its mammoth bull statue carved from a single boulder. Sign up for a walking tour at Pete, among the oldest areas in Bangalore. You must visit the Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, an example of Indo-Islamic architecture, that was the summer residence of Tipu Sultan.
Chennai:
The Kapaleeshwar Temple is probably the city’s most famous temple with colourful depictions of a pantheon of Hindu deities on display. Catch a movie show at Escape by SPI Cinemas – the city’s new multiplex. Enjoy a breezy evening walk at Marina Beach Promenade as well as the Besant Nagar beach. An offbeat attraction is the Crocodile Bank. Originally set up as a conservation centre, it offers everything from hand feeding to education about crocodiles.
Kolkata:
The Indian Museum is one of Kolkata’s main museums housing exhibits dating as far back as 1,000 years. The Victoria Memorial is an impressive monument made of white marble and surrounded by lush green lawns. Head to Maidan, a 3 km long park, ideal for watching the sunset over the river. Take tram 6 to the fascinating Kumartuli district, and discover the artisans body crafting sculptures of deities. From here, you can take the ferry to Howrah Bridge, one of the world’s busiest bridges. The Mullik Ghat flower market, a short walk away from the Howrah Bridge is a must-visit when you’re in this bustling city.
Hyderabad:
Start your adventure by exploring Hyderabad’s principal landmark – the Charminar. Shop at the bustling Laad Bazaar, a marketplace that sells literally everything from fine perfumes to fabric to secondhand saris. Hunt for cheap and genuine pearls along the lanes lining Charminar. The Salarjung Museum boasts of one of largest one-man collections of antiques in the world – including sculptures, paintings, textiles, carpets, clocks, and furniture. The Buddha Statue and Hussain Sagar are two must-see attractions. Hyderabad has one of the world’s largest standing stone Buddha statues completed in 1990. Reserve a day for the Ramoji Film City and take a four-hour long tour around the 800 hectare moviemaking complex.
Kochi:
Fort Kochi is a top top tourist site with a beach, church and even a basilica. The beach is a popular destination for strolling, watching ships going to and from the port, and sunset-gazing, while the St. Francis Church and Santa Cruz Basilica are a must-see for history buffs. Built in 1510 by Portuguese friars, the church is the oldest European church in India and was the burial site for Vasco de Gama (before his body was sent back to Portugal). Go island-hopping from Kochi to nearby Vypeen, Bolgatty, Willingdon and Gundu Islands. Discover ancient forts and palaces, romantic lighthouses and pristine beaches.

Pune:
There are a host of excellent museums such as the Raja Dinkar Kelkar which does a good job of showcasing the history, culture and customs of the people of Maharashtra. The Shaniwar Wada is a dazzling palace built in 1730 but was destroyed by a fire in the 1800s. The mammoth structure of the remaining walls are a testimony to Maratha culture. New Age followers will want to explore the world-renowned Osho International Meditation Resort. The picturesque Parvati Hill is a favourite relaxation spot with residents.
Ahmedabad:
If you’re in this megacity, don’t miss one of its most famous attractions: the gorgeous Lake Kankaria. The Sidi Sayed mosque is famous for its extraordinary 10 semi-circular windows covered with intricate latticework, as well as stone tracery of trees, foliage and motifs.
