Dar Al Masyaf
Starting with the good is the staff - they are all amazing and special thanks to Butler Sudath who takes the very best care of us. The beach staff at Celeste are brilliant with special thanks to Sean, Celestine, Brigit, Zer and Bejoy, Ashan and Hawa. Abrar the Buggy driver and the staff at La Promenade at breakfast - Sohan, Rubel, Jordan Lee, Gigi, and Helga to name but a few. The change back to having the Egg Stations and getting your own choice freshly cooked was great as it certainly eased the bottleneck at busy times and sped up service - just bring back the big toaster machine as the two small Smeg ones can’t cope.
The quality of food, cleanliness, amenities are fantastic and with the waterways and beautifully manicured gardens it’s a wonderful place to stay.
The negatives were all associated with the Majlis. The timings of cocktails from 5-7 is still a hard pill to swallow even after nearly 2 years of change. We prefer to get back from the beach and get ready for the evening before enjoying having cocktails in the Majlis. This is now very difficult as we want to enjoy our time on the beach, have a drink at the bar to finish of the day but now we feel rushed to get back to the room to get ready. As a couple, we would rather have a dinner reservation for 8/8.30 giving the families time to dine before us and enjoy later relaxed evenings. We have met many friends during our stays in the Majlis who we regularly meet up with and they all feel the same. The removal of the desk is awful. The Majlis is now a cold bare space and the visibility of the butlers is greatly diminished. The interaction with the Butlers has been diluted because of this as they now only have a presence during cocktail time which is a great shame in my opinion. I appreciate there is an E-Butler service but when guests come in for help getting buggy’s and Abras on their way to dinner there is nobody there. The phone that was on the desk had speed dial options if there was no Butler present but now there is a small phone on the back counter which you don’t feel obliged to use. I don’t understand that if the Butlers are on duty, why can’t they have a place in the Majlis to be visible? They are the face of DAM and what has always made it different to a traditional Hotel stay.
It was a shame the pool was closed for one of our weeks but we appreciate the need for urgent repairs.

Dar al Masyaf
So this time we went for the Dar Al Masyaf - what a place, where do I begin. From the moment we arrived Sharshi our butler was superb! A lovely smiley presence and so good with our son! We could not have been better looked after. Organised the smooth running of our holiday and made us feel so at home. 100%
We also loved our housekeeper Shivaram, from the fun little presents he left for our son, to the impeccable service we received twice a day - what a joy to come back to an immaculate room everyday. 100%
Any finally to Sarah from Kids Club who my son fell in love with (he's two!) As parents who are lucky enough to be able to work from home, knowing that our son was in kids club with all the wonderful staff made us feel like he was benefitting from his holiday. He would come home every day with a new picture, craft he'd learnt or arm tattoo (face painting for the cool 2 year old lads!) this team could not have looked after out son better, we used the baby sitting service and the fact that the same wonderful human was putting him to bed made my son feel safe... and I could enjoy a night out. Thank you Jumeriah for another fantastic stay... see you in May... Husband says no... lets see what I can do...
