A casual, rustic lodge with a view over their pond and tropical garden. Swimming pool for guests. Staff very friendly. Rooms ok for a short stay - has all you need. A drive from the town but easy walk to the RDC and nextdoor to the Orangutan and the Sun bear centres. Good value.

Run down, dirty and not worth the money

Firstly don’t be fooled by the beautiful marketing pictures. I have attached some realistic pictures. I have stayed in budget resorts whilst here, so I am not fussy, but this place is higher priced and is definitely not worth the money.
The rooms are dirty. Bed is hard. Pillows are like bricks. The place is run down. There’s scum around the pool, the loungers are old and you risk getting a splinter. Most guests take a look and just walk off. Our evening meal was not great. They add eggshell to the rice for that extra crunch.
On a positive note. If you bring your kids they will love it. I have banned slim from my house, but here the heat pumps ouse their own green slim into the room for that added entertainment.

Amazing location for the sunbears and Orangutan Sanctuary, just 5 minutes on foot. The pool here is a nice relief from the heat, however there are only about 10 sunbeds and then some seating along the wall, so at times there was nowhere to sit and relax by the pool which was a shame. The room was big, the balcony overlooked jungle type gardens and lots of wildlife could be seen/heard. Tea&coffee was available in the rooms, along with bottled water each day. Food in the restaurant was average. The gardens were beautiful, would stay again.

Lovely hotel in the heart of the jungle

Lovely resort tucked away in the heart of the jungle, it needs a little TLC but not enough to detract from the beauty of the area. It’s right next to the orangutan rehabilitation sanctuary and sunbear sanctuary (5-10 min walk from hotel) and we were lucky enough to see orangutans on the hotel grounds.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and I’d absolutely recommend this as a place to base yourself.

Room was quite big and clean. The lodge is a bit outdated and would need some maintanance. Garden is large with lush vegetation. Reception is at the cafe and it is quite far from the rooms. Location is great if you want to visit Sunbear Conservation Centre or Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary - 10 minutes on foot.
