Ruined my vacation, 1-star motel infested with bedbugs!
Reported my bites with a live bedbug, they changed the bedding etc in the room and said "Sorry, probably previous guest brought it". But from the size of infestation, the problem seemed to have been there for quite a while.
I now have bites all over my upper body- neck, shoulders, arms, hands, back. Cycling my clothes in public laundromats on high heat multiple times on the vacation, hoping I don't carry these home.
And this is not a 4-star hotel in any way. It's like of a small 1-star motel. No drinking water supplied in room, no coffee machine. Breakfast was below average.

I’m from Australia, and at 55 years old, I haven’t traveled much—so I’m pretty much a rookie when it comes to navigating international vacations. But somehow, my wife and I stumbled upon Mystical Blue, and it was love at first check-in.
We walked through the front door, up a few stairs, and were greeted by a squad of staff who were way too happy to see us for that early in the morning. They took our bags (probably to keep us from awkwardly lugging them around) and told us we could hang by the pool until our room was ready.
Let me tell you, the pool view was like staring into a postcard that had been hit with a beauty filter. The online photos don’t even come close. And despite the place being busy, it never felt crowded. It was like everyone else had better things to do than hog the pool lounges, leaving them all for us. Even the pool itself felt like it had a VIP guest list—rarely anyone in it, just how I like it.
But what really made the stay was the people. The staff treated us like long-lost friends who finally showed up to the party.
We stayed in room 10, which is basically a jackpot of awesomeness. Two windows in the bedroom looking out over the water, and if that wasn’t enough, there were stairs leading to a private rooftop. Yep, you read that right: rooftop sunsets and your own private spa bath. Couple goals, right?
The windows in the bedroom open up to the main pathway where you can hear all the enthusiastic tourists passing by in a chorus of languages. I could’ve shut the windows and blocked out the noise, but I kinda liked listening to the soundtrack of global excitement while lounging in my room.
As for the location, Mystical Blue is near a road, which is great if you’re in the mood to rent a car, hop on a scooter, or pretend you’re not lost in an Uber.
Whichever direction you walk, you’re surrounded by more restaurants than you’ll know what to do with. Picking just one is like trying to choose a favorite child, but trust me, none will disappoint.
Breakfast was included, and it was basically a buffet of happiness. I usually went for the grapefruit juice, a cheese and ham omelet, pancakes with syrup, a bowl of fruit, and the kind of Greek yogurt that makes you wonder why anyone eats anything else. Oh, and they had free water! Just ask. Hydration for the win.
Negatives? Yeah, none. You're welcome.
