THE 5 STARS/ALL-INCLUSIVE LUXURY LESS 5 STARS/ALL-INCLUSIVE LUXURY
If you want to enjoy a true 5-star ALL INCLUSIVE, I do not recommend this hotel, it is my eighth time in the DR and I have not seen a hotel where the cleanliness, food, and service had such a mediocre level. A terrible investment.

This is the worst place to come. I don't recommend it for my worst enemy. They are racist, rude and they pretend to only speak Spanish. Don't fall for any upgrade it's a scarm. They will upgrade you to the same room you already paid for

Try to find another hotel
So I can't give this place more the 2 stars b/c I would never go back. I will tell you the downfalls of the hotel and then I'll tell you the pluses.
- Staff are on the rude side. It's like they are against you not for you. I will give an example...read on
- the hotel limits you to ONE towel per person and they are VERY strict about it. like, what??!! I have been to many resorts and have NEVER been limited to 1 towel. I found this very strange.
- we were there for 4 nights. First night we were happy to eat at the buffet but tried to make reservations at the restaurants that were part of the all inclusive as soon as we go there and they were all booked until the last night so we were stuck eating at the buffet every night. The buffet at this place was ok. Certainly fine - you will find something to eat but I wouldn't rave about the food. It should NOT be so hard to make dinner reservations. Have your guests make them upon reserving a room. This wasn't right.
- the room itself was nice but the one side of the king bed squeaked. yes, only 1 side. very odd. so every time my husband moved in the middle of the night it woke us both up. Luckily (I say lucky b/c we didn't know in advance) the room came with 2 twin trundle beds which were solid mattresses - a little hard for my taste but my husband offered to sleep in the twin bed so that we could both get some rest. So...beds need to be updated
- pillows SUCKED. no other way to put it. not soft. lumpy and just not great
- the tile surrounding the pool and in all the buildings is tile so when wet was very slippery. Lawsuit waiting to happen
- the CLINCHER WHICH LEFT THE WORST TASTE IN OUR MOUTHS came on our last day when we tried to get late checkout. We asked about it on day 2 and were told we have to ask the night before or the day of departure. Well..the day of wasn't going to work as we were playing golf that morning and leaving the room at 8 am. so we went the night before and asked for late checkout and were told we couldn't have it b/c the hotel was fully booked. fine. I get that. (by the way, they charge $15/hour to checkout late something I wasn't used to. usually it's a courtesy and is free). So we asked if they had a courtesy suite. Sure - they have ONE and it was booked!! WTF? ONE? this hotel was ENORMOUS! It took us close to 15 mins just to walk from the lobby to our room. one courtesy suite makes absolutely no sense. We spoke with Any (pronounced Annie) who was actually very nice and helpful and we asked what else they could do. After a huge push from us, they relented and said they could put us in another room for 30 mins (yup. just 30). So we booked the room from 2:30 - 3 PM, which by the way was 2 buildings away from where we were. (I thought they were fully booked which means this room shouldn't have been available in the first place.). We confirmed the next morning before we left for golf and again when we got back. We went to relax and came back at 2:15 and were told that the room was no longer available by Julio Suero. Really? After confirming twice?! Now we were mad. After some switcharoo they said they could put us in a room (in the same building that we were in originally!!) from 2:40-3:10. not a minute before or a minute after. VERY VERY annoying. Then they said - nope sorry - that's not even available. All of a sudden Any comes over and somehow magically the courtesy "suite" (just a shower and toilet and changing area) that was booked was available!!! OMG. And by the way - that suite was available when we got back from golf. it's right next to the bag room and I saw it was empty and asked if we could shower then. The answer was no. I will say that Julio and Any were (hopefully) just doing their jobs and likely following orders. They tried. We think. it was either that or we were being lied to. Nothing was making sense. What happened to helping the customer and making their stay relaxing? This was a stressful end to what was already a not thrilling experience. The hotel either needs to designate a few more courtesy suites for their guests. Dumbest process ever!
Here are the pluses:
- beach is spectacular. long and expansive. you won't be disappointed
- once you get to used to the size of the place and walking 5-15 mins to eat, you can get around somewhat easily w the little tram and golf carts that are driving around constantly.
- amazing activities for kids, If you have them with you. Huge blow up structure in the ocean - rock climbing wall, slides, maze, etc.
- rooms are VERY quiet. didn't hear a thing and I'm pretty sensitive.
If you still choose to go, I do recommend the buildings in the lower 30s as they are closer to the beach and pool.
