Mountain hike
Rooms beautifully renovated.
Located a little outside of Appenzell.
A few minutes drive by car.
Location is quiet.
Breakfast is of high quality.
Eating out in the evening is not always possible.

Country comfort - Swiss style!
The family seem to know everyone in Appenzell and everyone seems to know them - there is a real sense of community here. As international guests to the area, the local knowledge and advice we were given was very helpful (Corinne speaks English, her husband Erich doesn't).
Rooms were clean and very comfortable - plenty of room for two and ample storage/hanging space in the wardrobe. The only negative (for us it was a very small one) - there are stairs - no lift/elevator. Erich is happy to assist with transporting suitcases if need be.
The food was fresh and delicious (locally sourced). They have a restaurant on site which serves dinner a few nights each week - Erich does all the cooking. Also a great wine and local beer selection too.
The location lends itself to being a perfect stop over for the avid bush walker/hiker, however it is also perfect for those looking for something just out of town - quiet, country, with a welcoming/relaxed family feel and yet close enough to discover Appenzell and surrounds easily.

Appenzell, petit, sympathique, délicieux, parfait
Une recherche sur le net, un téléphone et tout est organisé, l'hôtel, nous attend, en ayant pris soin de nous signaler que le restaurant de l'hôtel est fermé ce mardi soir, mais, un hôtel à Appenzell ville est organisé et nous attend pour le repas du soir (Normes Covid-19 obligent).
Très bel accueil à l'hôtel de la part de la patronne, super sympathique, et qui parle parfaitement le français.
Notre chambre, sous les toits est entièrement rénovée, cosy est très agréable. Trés bonne isolation phonique.
Le petit déjeuner était parfait à notre goût, avec, bien sûr, le fromage Appenzeller.
Lors d'un prochain passage dans cette merveilleuse région, c'est sans hésitation que nous retournerons dans cet établissement, et cette fois pour plus qu'une nuit.
