An accommodation tax is required in Osaka from January, 2017. According to the Osaka City Ordinance, the accommodation tax in Osaka City will be revised starting September 1, 2025. The tax will be charged per person per night based on the accommodation fee: 5,000 JPY to 15,000 JPY per person per night: 200 JPY tax 15,000 JPY to 20,000 JPY per person per night: 400 JPY tax Over 20,000 JPY per person per night: 500 JPY tax Some room rates do not include the accommodation tax, and guests may be required to pay it separately at the front desk.
