beautiful Ferrette

My wife and I just returned to the U.S.A. from a three week holiday in Europe. For nine of those says, in late June, we rented an apartment at the "la Maison des Fontaines." Every aspect of our visit we found our expectations to be exceeded. The apartment was spacious, well decorated, well equipped and "tres confortable." The proprietors were charming and helpful while remaining totally non-intrusive. Ferrette is beautiful. Armed with only a small number of memorized French phrases we managed nicely since the local folks were very friendly and helpful. Eric and Wafa speak perfect English and always available with suggestions for day trips. Colmar, Lucerne and Zurich are within an hour and a half and Basel is 20 minutes away. We did visit Munich and Fussen for two nights. The local bakery is fabulous; their croissants are "to die for." We hope we will have the opportunity to visit again.

What a gem!

We stayed in the "Grande Gite des Fontaines" a property also owned by the owners of La Maison des 5 Temps. A visit to this apartment is a must. It is very spacious, comfortable and decorated to a very high standard with great views of the old castle from the windows. Ferrette is very quaint and has shops and restaurants to cater for everyone. We had a fantastic week here in this quaint village. The owners made us feel very welcome and are just up the road if you need them but not in any way intrusive. It is very handy for trips to Switzerland. We would certainly like to visit again.

fairy tale vacation for families

we spent our family/friends summer vacation in ferrette, france, at "la maison des fontaines".
the little town of ferrette is picturesque and beautiful, like from a fairy tale.
the apartment we rented at "la maison des fontaines" was just amazing! perfectly equipped with a full kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom with double sink, shower and separate tub, and an extra bathroom with just the toilet and a sink. one of the couches in the living room could be turned into a bed that sleeps two. as we were traveling with a baby, we highly appreciated that there was a baby bed, a high chair and a changing unit at our disposal.
the apartment furniture and equipment were brandnew, the interior was absolutely perfectly arranged with great taste, lots of detail and personal touch.
"la grande salle" on the ground floor level was just as welcoming and comfortable. a good place to hang out with the whole group on a rainy day, or in the evenings.
wifi internet connection is also available.
the house is in a cute little street just below the the castle, so when we looked out of our living-room and bedroom windows, we saw the castle on the hill right above. fairy tale-like!!
also, the surroundings of the house are perfect and safe for kids to run free and play.
the town has a couple shops, restaurants, a post office and a big supermarket to meet all needs. people are very friendly and welcoming. it's helpful when you speak some french, but quite a few of the people we met in town also spoke german.
the owners of the house are very friendly, helpful and approachable at all times.
i would go back to ferrette anytime! it was a wonderful vacation in a lovely and peaceful place.

Sehr schöne Wohnung mit reichlich Platz

Wir haben mit der Familie ein Wochenende in Ferrette verbracht und dabei in der Wohnung in der Gîtes de la Maison des Fontaines übernachtet. Die Wohnung bietet zwei grosse, helle Schlafzimmer, einen Salon mit zwei Sofas und eine vollständig ausgerüstete Küche mit Esstisch. Die Wohnung befindet sich in einem historischen Gebäude im Zentrum von Ferrette. Vor dem Haus plätschert ein schöner alter Brunnen ruhig vor sich hin. Das Frühstück wurde in einem grossen Saal im Parterre serviert und liess keine Wünsche offen. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir haben uns äusserst wohlgefühlt und kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Trés beau gîte, plein de charme.

Très beau gîte avec beaucoup de charme, mêlant l'ancien et le moderne. Très beau parquet, belle décoration.Le gîte est situé au cœur de Ferrette, plusieurs restaurants sont aux alentours. Un marchand de vélo se situe à côté du gîte où l'on peut y louer des vélos à assistance électrique. L'office de tourisme est aussi à proximité, où l'on a reçu un très bon accueil et plein de bonnes ballades et d'activités à faire dans la région. Petit inconvénient, pas de jardin. Très bonne adresse.

Le gîte dispose d'un jardin paysager, cela est clairement indiqué sur notre site internet. Jardin et terrasse, avec salon de jardin, sont accessibles par le passage du rez-de-chaussée. Malheureusement la météo, ne permettait pas de profiter pleinement de la terrasse. Et, il est vrai, que nous ne l'avons peut-être pas mentionnée en raison du mauvais temps, nous vous prions, dans ce cas de nous en excuser.
Nous espérons vous accueillir une autre fois et vous faire découvrir tout le confort que propose notre gîte.
