Excellent apartment in the Old Town

Ours was a fine, large, updated apartment in Old Town near the Cathedral. It was somewhat difficult to find, but the owner/manager quickly helped us find the apartment--she called us when we were only a bit late.

Definitely not 4 stars

Positive side very well located!!
However, the negatives are - it was very difficult to find, we had to google the number to ring the representative for Irundo as it wasn’t straight forward and even the locals didn’t seem to know where it was.
We entered the apartment as a family of four and only had one double bed upstairs and a small sofa bed downstairs made up of cushions which was not suitable, also there was a damp mouldy smell which was almost over powering as we entered the room every time. When we first arrived we didn’t notice it as much because all the windows had been open as if this has been an on going problem.
The key code didn’t really work and we ended up being locked out a few times and we had to ring the representative again to let us back in. We was given a key but this wasn’t brilliant either.
The hot water was not adequate for four adults and also there was no mirrors in the main apartment only a small one in the bathroom, it was very dark with no natural light.
We complained to Irundo however we didn’t get very far, therefore we contacted our travel agent in the UK and he took it further for us and we got moved to a different Irundo apartment which was a lot more comfortable and suitable for us.

Not too happy

The apartment was not really an apartment, it was a large room with a bathroom, a mini fridge, sink and a small stove. It was clean but the bathroom was not good. The shower overflowed multiple times and it was very dangerous with water all over the floor. I will agree that it’s in a great location, but unfortunately it’s way too easy to get lost in Old Town, Dubrovnik. Worst is that no one told us that when you enter one of the 2 gates (we came in Plocè) you have to carry your luggage over very bumpy stones and up many flights of stairs. Did I mention that I am not a light packer? After I arrived, drenched, because it was August and we got lost due to little/no directions, I complained to Ivana (who was very nice) about having to LUG my luggage and not wanting to have a repeat when departing. She gave me the number to a service that will CARRY your bags for you! Why didn’t they say anything about this before I came?!?!? The service is called Baggage and Smiles and Marko is wonderful!! It’s cheap and worth every penny. I think the apartments should have a link on their site for this baggage service because it’s ESSENTIAL if you actually want to enjoy the beginning and end of your stay. Also, we weren’t told about a per person/per night tax that we’d be charged until after we arrived. Not cool. I don’t think any of the rentals in Old Town have a bag service so DEFINITELY call Marko at Baggage and Smiles. The number is +385 95 737 1678.

Studio apartment? Not by any stretch of the imagination!

Do not stay here! This is not a studio apartment. This is not a hotel room! This is a hole in the wall. There is no kitchen. There are 2 cabinets with a sink. There are no shelves, dresser or even a luggage jack! You have to put your suitcases on the floor or on the only surface which is a small (kitchen?) table with not 2 chairs but 1, so you can eat the breakfast you bought (not included) while 1 person sits and the other stands after you move your suitcase back on the floor! Where is the other chair? ( with the dresser drawers I guess) Seriously???? There is actually a closet but it has no bar to hang clothes or shelves, just a hole in the wall. There is a beautiful roach trap though. Oh, and double bed? Don't be silly. It's 2 twin beds. Worst hotel room ever! (We do some serious traveling and we're not cheap!!) Not satisfied at all.

The place is difficult to find/reach because there is no sign at the walls etc. The apartment has a reception which is also hidden very well in another place. I found the price extremely expensive for what I get. One can think that it is expensive all over Dubrovnik but at least you can get what you see in the pictures in those places. The place looks amazing in the pictures but the apartment was way below the average quality. The bed quality was very very bad. I mean how can you give your guests such old, soft and destroyed beds? The bathroom was small and bad as well. The building is old and it stinks. There is no cleaning service and there is no bin around!! You do not know where to throw your litter. All in all it is extremely expensive for what is offered. It might be OK for 1/2 or 1/3 price maybe...
