Comfortable apartment with great access to the city and beyond
Return journey from Tuscany to UK, we put a in in a map and chose Innsbruck because we'd never been there.
Property is great; spacious, comfortable and really well priced. It was on the top floor so was 3 flights of stairs up. There is a lift but to access it you still have to go up a small flight of stairs so not sure if this is a wheelchair-friendly property. Great views up the mountain.
Bed-wise there is a massive double (maybe a king?) and a big fold-out sofa bed that was super comfortable. Loads of towels provided. Kitchen is nicely specced , although we couldn't find a wine bottle opener.
Arrived late afternoon - flat was easy to find with the really useful info pack that's emailed to you when you book. It contains info about entrance codes, wi-fi etc.
If arriving by car you can park on the street using the EASYPARK app; download the app and use location INNSBRUCK 9004 - it cost us €9 from 5pm until 11am the next morning and is easy to set up.
Location is on the edge of town, about 15 minutes walk to the centre along the main road; plenty of shops on the way including an amazing 2nd hand clothes shop that my wife loved. The area is fine, clean and tidy, a bit of noise from the roads but that was more because it was hot and we slept with out windows open. It felt safe to walk around as a family.
There is a SPAR about 50m away from the property for food shopping. There are also a few bars and pizzerias local.
There is also a petrol station within a minute drive and within a few minutes you're out of the city so it would be great for exploring the area by car or on bike.
Negatives? Aside from the stairs, which may be an issue to some, the only thing we could think of was the massive bathroom had a relatively small shower that didn't have anywhere to put shower gel etc, and the curtain across the door didn't fully stop splashes out on to the floor. there was also nowhere to really store toiletries other than on the shelf above the toilet. Not a major thing though.
We fell in love with Innsbruck as a location to holiday and we'd have happily stayed another few nights in the property if we'd had the time. It's on out list of properties to check out if we return in the future.
